What is an Optimist Club?

An Optimist club is a voluntary organization of civic-minded men and women who have a commitment to improving their community. Members come from business, industry, the armed forces, agriculture and the professions.

An Optimist club's primary goal is providing or supporting programs at the local level that are of benefit to young people. The Optimist International slogan is "Friend of Youth."

All donations received and profits from fund raising projects must go to charity.

Optimist International is an association of over 4,000 clubs primarily located in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Europe. The first Optimist club was organized in Buffalo, New York in 1911.

Purposes of an Optimist Club...

To develop Optimism as a philosophy of life;

To promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs;

To inspire respect for law;

To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people;

To aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that giving of one's self in service to others will advance the well-being of man, the community and the world.
